Connecticut floats a bill to increase the tax on ammunition by fifty percent.\u00a0 Yes, by half the cost of the box of bullets.\u00a0 I recently box .45 ammo at Walmart for $15.97 per box of fifty.\u00a0 That\u2019s basically 32 cents per bullet.\u00a0 In Connecticut, this same box will cost $23.96 or 48 cents per bullet.<\/p>\n
Why would they do this? \u00a0Because it is a state run by liberals and leftists. \u00a0Guns are bad. \u00a0Period. \u00a0And like the L&L crowd always tries they tax something they want to stop while subsidizing something they want to continue. \u00a0The thing is, Connecticut doesn\u2019t even have glaringly bad gun violence statistics. \u00a0They just don\u2019t want an armed citizenry.<\/p>\n
How will this work out? \u00a0Just look at how the tax on cigarettes has changed smoking habits. \u00a0Since 2001 these five states have raised taxes on a pack of cigarettes this much:<\/p>\n
Massachusetts: \u00a0$3.51<\/p>\n
Rhode Island: \u00a0$4.25<\/p>\n
New York: \u00a0$4.35<\/p>\n
Connecticut: \u00a0$4.35<\/p>\n
Washington D.C.: \u00a0$4.50<\/p>\n
Guess what? \u00a0People still smoke in these states. \u00a0They either go to another nearby state with lower government seizure efforts taxes, or they simply suck it up. \u00a0What will happen with the ammunition tax? \u00a0The same thing. \u00a0They will just go to the next state over to buy their bullets. \u00a0The only thing this will do will lower profits to Connecticut sporting and gun stores.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
