Navi Pillay, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned Israel in this latest military action because of the success of Israel’s Iron Dome system. Not because Israel uses it and saves their own civilians lives, but because Israel did not share the technology with Hamas.
Hamas is the Iranian backed terrorist organization that is currently the government in charge in Gaza. Hamas routinely kidnaps Israel Soldiers and civilians and shells Israel with mortars and rockets daily. Hamas does not target military installations. They simply point them and fire. To Hamas, ALL Israelis are legitimate targets.
Israel, on the other hand takes great pains to meticulously target where they fire. They use technology (radar) to pinpoint within feet where a round originated once fired from Gaza. They then analyze whether or not to return fire, many, many times not doing so because Hamas fired from a location near population centers, schools, hospitals, or markets. Hamas makes no such distinctions.
Prime Minister Netanyahu described it perfectly when he said, “Israel uses its rockets to protect her people. Hamas uses their people to protect their rockets.”
Israel with U.S. financial backing developed Iron Dome starting in 2005. It is designed to track and intercept ballistically fired missiles and even 155mm artillery shells before they hit their intended target. It had a spotty initial success rate but has improved dramatically as technology increased. Still quite expensive, the system runs about $20 million per interception. Israel has nine batteries with plans for 15 more.
But the U.N. is upset that only Israel is able to (or bothers to) protect its citizens. Israel should share this technology with Hamas so that the Palestinians who are next to or living among the rocket firing platforms Hamas uses will not be injured. One count shows 25 Israeli Soldiers have been killed while only 2 Israeli civilians have died. Conversely, 86 terrorists have been killed and 406 (69 women and 129 children) human shields (Palestinians) have died.
If you ask me, Israel is culling the herd of future terrorists. By killing the 69 women, they prevent the 4.38 average births per woman to either become terrorists or terrorist factories (women). In contrast, the birth rate in America is 1.89 births per woman. This is below what is caused a replenishment rate. US women need to have a 2.1 birth rate just for the population of the US to remain stable and constant. That it is not demonstrates that eventually there will not BE a United States as we know it. We are not reproducing enough to sustain our own country.
Back to the U.N., though. Navi is upset that Israel does not share this technology to the point of suggesting Israel’s actions to be a war crime. ” Just because Hamas fires rockets indiscriminately aimed at Israeli civilian population centers without provocation and fires them from within its own population centers does not “absolve” Israel from its own legal violations,” Pillay told reporters Thursday.
So, right there, in that statement, a U.N. official confirms they realize that Hama fires into Israel, shooting at civilian centers without provocation or discriminate aiming attempts. They do so from within their own civilian centers, consequently increasing the dangers to themselves and the civilians in the area. But Israel is wrong for not providing Hamas with the technology to limit civilian casualties even while Hamas seeks greater and more gruesome Israeli civilian casualties.
She neglected to mention the three U.N.-run schools (an establishment frequently known to be inhabited by children) where caches of Hamas rockets have been discovered. In two of those case, the rockets were actually returned to Hamas so they could be fired at Israel later. Her Human Rights Council also has yet to even mention the shooting down of the Malaysian airliner over Ukraine.
This woman embodies the reason I believe the United Nations has long since outgrown its purpose. It is now simply and anti-American and anti-Israeli forum housed within the heart of one of our largest cities. We should withdraw from the U.N., and kick them out of New York. Let them find the 22 percent of their entire $5.5 BILLION budget somewhere else.
