B. Hussein Obama recently went to Congress asking for $3.7 billion to “fix” the border crisis. Republicans should have anticipated this request and IMMEDIATELY granted it.
” The president sent a massive $3.7 billion request seeking funds for everything from transportation costs to border enforcement to surveillance to health services.” (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/08/white-house-funding-border-policy-changes/)
The administration also claimed they were conducting bilateral plans to expedite deportations by using some of the money to hire more immigration judges. Some of the money would also go towards building more detentions centers. Of course some of the money would go towards legal aid for those “we want to keep” as well as for medical treatments, even language training. (The “humanitarian” left showing its ugly head.)
Of course, $600 million is being added on (part of the $3.7B) to fight wildfires in western states—something that has oh, so much to do with the border crisis. So even in a “clean” request, some politician added an earmark.
Republicans are simply too burrowed into their fight against anything this ass clown wants to do. (No spending without an matching offset in reductions.) They should have cut the unrelated $600 million and given him the rest—instantly. This reticence to accede to anything B. Hussein wants is what is going to sink us in 2014 as well as in 2016 when all the chips are on the table. We lose THAT election and our country is finished.
Think about it. B. Hussein said he wanted money to build new detention centers—as in, the illegal aliens swarming over the border were not going to get a free pass and be allowed to wander the fields of grain at will. He was going to train and position more immigration judges who if they rule by constitutional footing and not left leaning ideology would send them all back to the barrio from which they came. He was going to use some of the money to reinforce border security despite their affirmation (again) that the border is more secure now than ever.
None of these positions would sit well with that political voting bloc that voted for the “D” column at a rate of 72%.
If we had given him that money and then forced him to spend it as he stated he wanted to, we would have gotten what we wanted in the resolution of this problem. Denying it gives him the political out to blame Republicans again for being obstructionists. If only we had given him the money he needed, he could have solved this problem, he’ll say. Delaying it even, gives him that possibility since he can later say we didn’t act in time, we granted him his wish too late to be of any use.
And the media is all too willing to help him hammer out (and home) that message.
Sure, the left would have gotten their feel good money to teach the “refugees” English and get them fed and medicated. (They wouldn’t have learned English anyway—they don’t want to and we don’t make it a requirement for them. Go to any big box retailer for proof and a Spanish lesson.) But we would have gotten detention centers and judges to send them back south, and maybe even a fence. Now only the illegals will get what they wanted. They’ll continue to be bussed and flown to cities across the country complete with the diseases they carry that our populace is no longer inoculated to fight—with no hope of them ever leaving.
Good job, Republicans. This is why you lose more than you win.
